For the Loch Long's voyage of 1901/1902 her course and daily runs are recorded on a map of the world. This is quite a large .pdf (Acrobat reader required) document, so a download is only recommended if you have a broadband connection.

However, It does demonstrate in a graphic fashion the regular route of these clipper ships, using the Atlantic as a route 'north - south' and the circumnavigation of the globe being made between 40 and 50 degrees south (with a dip to 55 degrees south to round Cape Horn), in the most inhospitable seas in the world, where the westerly winds blow uninterupted round the globe and ice was also a frequent hazard.
